You could use this map today to follow current events. It goes as far east as the Indus valley, thus including Afghanistan (also call "Cabul") and "Beloochistan" (now part of Pakistan. Persia is divided into several provinces. Syria and Palestine were then part of Turkey, and both Jerusalem and Baghdad are marked. Within the Arabian Peninsula, most towns are either along the coast or near the somewhat cooler hill regions.
