[Northwestern France] Le Gouvernment General De Picardie..., 1692. 21 x 31½; a bright, clean impression with reinforced centerfold. There is some rubbing with small losses in blank areas around the centerfold. SOLD
From Dunkirk to Abbeville along the Atlantic, and east to Gand and Phillippeville. In the title cartouche acanthus leaves, a cornucopia, and swags of fruit intertwine with martial emblems including a cannon, mortar, suits of armor, battle flags, soldiers, angels and tritons (whew!). The scale bar cartouche offers a more peaceful theme: a farmer with spade and flail, and a gleaner with sickle and sheaf of wheat.
