Blaeu's map is derived from materials gathered by Isaac Massa, a Dutch merchant who traveled to Russia many times A handsome map with three cartouches. The title block has fur pelts hanging from it with ferocious wolves above. At lower right are distance scales with figures of traders offering furs to crowned women. At upper left is the imperial shield with its double-headed eagle and armed warriors (Cossacks?) on either side. Cities are picked out in red, and prancing deer enliven the map.
