There are numerous fascinating notes describing the region; they frequently mention temples and ancient ruins. "Tombs of the Kings of Thebes" and temples at Karnak and Luxor are marked. Also noted are sugar plantations, mines, and a slave market. Caravan routes though the desert are shown. At the entrance to the "Bahr el Akabah (Gulf of Aqaba) are Islands of the Pirates. An inset of Nubia follows the Nile south to the Third Cataract, though it is mentioned that this area is very little known.
