Pieter van den Keere engraved this map for the miniature version of John Speed's atlas. Prospect of the Most Famous Parts of The World. No "elephants for want of towns," but mountain ranges fill the interior. Two large lakes in central Africa feed the Nile and other rivers. Jerusalem and the Arabian peninsula are included.
