List 83 - Federal Period
List 83 - Federal Period
We are pleased to offer a selection of early U.S. state maps by several American mapmakers. Joseph Scott's maps appeared in
both his Gazetteer and his Atlas of the United States and have become quite desirable. Scott's publisher Matthew Carey
followed a few years later with his own atlas. Jedediah Morse was an active writer of geographies but is best-known today
as the father of Samuel F.B. Morse, inventor of the telegraph. Anthony Finley's atlases had particularly attractive color.
Note: The Scott maps all have some surface dirt and minor spotting.
