Appointing Silvanus Hastings as lieutenant of the 4th company, 5th Regiment, New-Hampshire Militia, Dec. 26, 1767. Hastings (1721-1806) was a selectman for Charlestown, NH and also served during the Revolution at Bunker Hill. Harvard-educated Gov. Wentworth, by contrast, remained loyal to the crown and fled the country in 1775. He was later Royal Governor of Nova Scotia and knighted in 1795.
