Contains the false islands in Lake Superior. A fascinating regional map, brimming with information. Many captions deal with navigation on the Great Lakes, rivers and portages. Topographical notes report "Immense Forests," locate salt licks and a coal mine, tells us the Ohio River is measured "by its meanders" on its way from Fort Pitt. Historically important events are mentioned such as Macbride's "discovery" of Kentucky in 1754 and "Sinclairs" (Gen. Arthur St. Clair's) defeat in 1791.
