An early map naming the United States, the geography based on that by John Mitchell. An inset lists population by state and, though forts are depicted throughout the map, a separate list (in the upper Atlantic) locates eighteen more. The attractive cartouche features the Liberty Cap, a cannon, and French and American flags. Many Indian settlements are named.
