From Thomas Stackhouse's Universal Atlas. British, U.S., French and Spanish possessions in North America are indicated by color. There is little interior detail but river systems are shown as far as they are known or guessed at: the River of the West runs directly from Lake Winnipeg to the Pacific. An early owner has pencilled initials under the "Mayamis" Indians located in Ohio and underlined a few place names in Canada.
