[England] Ogilby, The Continuation of the Road from London to Holy-Head..., London, 1675. 13½ x 18. Old Olc. Lightly age-toned, else VG. SOLD

First Issue. An unusual example of early color; most of Ogilby's road maps exhibit modern color. Picks up at Chester, passes through Denbigh and notes landmarks such as Beaumaris and Conway Castles, at Mile 251 "a Gibbit" (gallows), at Mile 258 a menhir, called "the Long Stone" (actually, an English translation of the Cornish word for these prehistoric monuments). The cartouche features garlands and a grotesque mask.
