No covers. Lightly age-toned, else VG. SOLD Robert Burford (1792 - 1861) made panoramic paintings based on sketches from his travels. Panoramas, a popular art form in the 19th century, depicted cities, celebrated views, or battles. They could be as long as 300 feet and were displayed in rotunda constructed for that purpose. Burford exhibited at the London Royal Panorama Gallery from 1827 until his death. This simplified view consists of two panels, one above the other, with a lettered key identifying 61 places of interest. The text contains a brief history of the city and descriptions of key sites.
