SOLD Father Hennepin, though a shameless self-promoter, traveled extensively in the American interior and was the first European to see the Falls of St. Anthony on the upper Mississippi. His "New World" map shows Japan nearly touching California's north coast, supporting Hennepin's claim he could speedily reach those shores if William III would but underwrite the venture. Besides the two maps, noteworthy images include a view of Niagara Falls and of an American Bison.
